Hi, I’m Tomek. In 2019 I started Felt to go the other way. Everyone was reaching for the same instruments and the same hardware, and I wanted to play something else. Sounding like yourself gets easier when your tools aren’t everyone else’s.
It turned into an obsession. Most of these were forgotten. I keep finding instruments crafted by people who cared about getting the most beautiful sound, and not what sells. I track them down, learn how they tick, and sample them by hand, so playing one doesn’t take a screwdriver and a soldering iron. What began as a tool for myself now turns up on records by some of my musical heroes.
